Our Strategy

"Protecting the environment for over 80 years"

CPRE aims to

protect the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of rural England.

We campaign nationally and locally for positive solutions

for the long term future of the countryside and the greening

of the urban environment.

Objectives:

  • To protect the landscape quality of the English Countryside.
  • To protect and improve the recreational and green spaces in town and country for the benefit of all.
  • To campaign for quality urban development to improve the lives of local residents.
  • To support the need for good, affordable housing for local people and communities, while avoiding losing good Farmland.
  • To encourage the use of local Brownfield sites for building upon before Greenfield ones.
  • To support Government policy to convert long term empty houses into affordable homes.
  • To support and retain land for farming and food.
  • To support and encourage sustainable transport, particularly for those with restricted means or disability and to oppose unnecessary road building.
  • To engage in the proper recycling and disposal of waste in order to preserve the materials concerned and to minimise the impact of disposal upon the landscape.
  • To support measures that reduce CO2 emissions which are compatible with our sustainable countryside philosophy.
  • To encourage through several means the continued growth of the branch so we are financially stable enabling us to fulfil our aim.
