CPRE brings housing development research to life, through ‘Mapping the pipeline’, a new visual and accessible data story.

Last year, CPRE published Timelining the Pipeline: Housing Development End-to-End, a report examining the journey from planning permission to completed homes. This was accompanied by a blog exploring the role of time in the housing development process; it highlighted the many stages, delays and decisions that shape how housing is delivered.

Now, we’ve transformed that work into an interactive data story: Mapping the Pipeline.

Designed to make our research more accessible, the visual experience takes readers through the key stages of housing development, helping to explain why housing delivery can be a lengthy and complex process. Using case studies, timelines and graphics, it offers a clear and engaging way to explore the findings of our research.
